Ready to take up new challenges
Designing solutions for a positive life - our corporate purpose - has taken on a whole new dimension
in the context of the crisis that has shaken 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic has revealed numerous
weaknesses in our societies and raised a host of questions and uncertainties. It is more urgent
than ever to shape a better world and improve quality of life for all. While caution remains the
watchword in attempting the difficult task of assessing the impacts of the health crisis of 2020, it
is just as vital to understand that the future of humanity - with a growing and increasingly urban
global population - will be built by calling on the talents and creativity of engineering firms. We
stand ready with even greater conviction to take up these new challenges, innovate, and propose
new solutions to the fundamental issues of our time.
There is every reason to believe that environmental questions, of which we are already deeply
aware and which have already transformed the way we design projects, will be more crucial than
ever to the challenges that lie ahead. This is clearly reflected in the EU's Green Deal, which strives to
make Europe the first continent to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Reducing carbon footprints,
curbing climate change and saving resources will hence continue to be the guiding light for our
work. Designing solutions for a positive life means forging ahead on this path and stepping up our
efforts in the area of eco-design, the circular economy, the green transition, smart buildings, and the
digitisation of industrial activities.
Making cities and regions resilient is also becoming an increasingly pressing issue. Our recognised
expertise in climate risks and infrastructure safety is already being supplemented with proposals
that seek to integrate pandemic risk, human threats and the dangers inherent to cyber crime more
fully into our projects. Similarly, digital technology is continuing its inexorable transformation of
society and proving to be increasingly invaluable for sharing and processing information, as shown
in particular during the periods many of us have spent in lockdown. In this area too, we intend to
build on our momentum by developing new services that harness the capabilities of digital tools
and platforms.
Last but not least, our corporate purpose and our values form the natural foundation for our
heightened commitment to environmental and social causes. This is why we have set a number of
even more ambitious targets for 2025 in areas such as sharing value, helping our staff members
to grow and develop, reducing our environmental footprint, and committing to the development of
a more caring world. For, while we intend to continue this bold pace of growth to the benefit of our
clients, and are counting on this progress in order to strengthen our own resilience, we aspire to do
so in a manner that benefits everyone. And this is the sincere commitment that we are proposing to
anyone who would like to join us.
