We also proposed an unconventional solution for
the Coteaux du Var residential development project,
which aimed to create 400 housing units on a steeply
sloping site. Rather than opting for a conventional
road system, which would be extremely costly
with a configuration of this kind, we and architect-
landscape designer Alfred Peter adopted a more
virtuous approach by designing a pedestrianised
eco-neighbourhood with a central cableway serving
the housing units, which are carefully built into the
hillsides, so that vehicles can be left outside the
area. We discussed the topic of smart grids with the
owner and looked into the possibility of applying two
technological building blocks of a smart city to this
400-unit neighbourhood: collective self-consumption
aimed at achieving energy restraint and low-carbon
mobility.
These are all crucial issues as they affect the
public interest, the common property that we
create all around us. We are actively involved in the
development of our towns and cities, which gives real
meaning to our work and drives us to innovate.
