          Accelerating

          the Group’s international development

For ten years, accelerating its Coteba was not involved in export activity. It worked in other countries by setting up local
international development has been teams that were then active on their home markets. Its development was particularly notable
one of Artelia’s chief aims. In this field, in Europe, mainly in the area of multi-site programmes, but it also had subsidiaries beyond
each of the founding companies had the continent working successfully in the building construction sector (Morocco, Vietnam).
its own approach. Sogreah, in contrast, had for a very long time carried out much of its activity on an export basis,
working on large hydraulic, energy and maritime infrastructure projects, particularly in Africa,
the Middle East and Asia, and to a lesser extent in Eastern Europe. To do so it relied on a small
number of local subsidiaries, some of which, such as the one in Madagascar, were very old.
We have carried out an extensive reorganisation to consolidate and harmonise this network,
maintaining considerable flexibility in the way the offices are managed. In some countries (United
Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam) we have set up permanent
subsidiaries that are firmly rooted in their local markets and are able to provide services in a
large number of the Group’s fields of expertise. We have progressively strengthened them by
acquiring national players such as Appleyards in the United Kingdom (2012) and Intertecno
in Italy (2015). This acquisition strategy has steadily gathered strength and in 2019 led to the
acquisition of MOE, one of the principal engineering firms (900 employees, €100m turnover) in
Denmark, a country where Artelia no longer worked. In the same way, our export activity has
expanded as the Group’s size makes it easier to lead major international projects.

We have made considerable efforts in the areas of communication, networking and the
organisation of meetings, seminars and events in order to boost synergy between our various
geographical sites. Today we possess centres of expertise in several countries that can be
mobilised beyond their national borders – clear proof that the Group is becoming increasingly
                                         international.
