The company was also fast establishing itself as an expert in the field of fluid
mechanics, with an ability to tackle a whole host of subjects - wind turbine design,
seawater desalination, hydraulic transport and sorting of materials, wastewater
treatment and heat transfer systems, to name but a few.
Between 1956 and 1972, Sogreah filed 95 patents, also setting up a fully-equipped
computation centre from which it began developing mathematical models to simulate
flood propagation in major rivers such as the Senegal and the Mekong (1962). It was
thus now becoming a world-leading expert in water engineering.
