Cairo Metro - Egypt
By this time, Sogelerg was already distinguishing itself on a range of prestigious and
innovative projects. It carried out a whole series of preliminary studies in connection
with the design of a Channel crossing and was involved in the first Channel Tunnel
from 1972 to 1976 to link France and Great Britain. In 1973 it developed the traffic
plan for La Rochelle, which was intending to create a car-free city facilitating non-
motorised and electric transport modes – an idea that was quite revolutionary at
the time. And from 1972 to 1977 it worked on the RER Line C project in Paris for
the stretch of commuter train line running between the Orsay and Paris Invalides
stations.
It was also involved in the construction of various industrial facilities including,
from 1974 to 1976, the Jos and Kano oil depots in Nigeria and in 1975 the Al Midani
transformer factory in Saudi Arabia.
