Modelling of river Seine flooding in the Greater Paris region using the Arteseine model
(EPTB Seine Grands Lacs), Paris - France - © Artelia
Significant progress in the field of
natural risk management, impact
assessment and climate change
adaptation
In the past 10 years, Artelia
has substantially improved the
methods it uses to assess river
flood risks, notably in conjunction
with climate change projection,
enabling it to propose risk
reduction measures that are more
effective and boost the resilience of
infrastructure and entire regions.
This progress has been fuelled by
the many research partnerships in
which Artelia is involved at national
and European levels. These focus
in particular on highly risk-prone
urban and industrial areas, such
as the Greater Paris region, which
is subject to regular flooding from
the river Seine and its tributaries,
and Lyon city centre, which lies on At the heart of interactions between natural phenomena and development
the river Rhône.
Helping to safeguard coastal
areas
In the face of rising sea levels
and increasingly frequent
extreme climate events, Artelia is
carrying out in-depth work on the
coastal environment and coastal
development projects
(morpho-sedimentary modelling
of estuaries, shoreline
maintenance studies, simulation
Cayeux-sur-Mer - France - © Altimage_SMBS-GLP of flood waves, etc.).
