Amager power plant, Copenhagen - Denmark

            MOE,

an independent company takes on Denmark's energy sector

In 1930, civil engineer A.J. Moe was working for Copenhagen’s power company
when he decided, on March 1st of that year, to set up his own business. Creating
a company in his own name, he commenced work on the design of an extension to
the H.C. Ørsted power station, one of the biggest power plants serving the Danish
capital. Over the following decades, the firm was to make a major contribution to
the expansion of Denmark’s energy sector, designing energy-generating plants
            throughout the country.
This first assignment was truly iconic for us, marking both the founding of MOE and
its continuity, as we are still working for Copenhagen’s power company today. Energy
is our traditional area of expertise, but we have gradually branched out to develop
a capability in the civil engineering and building construction sectors. Hence MOE
was involved in building a large number of civilian bomb shelters during the Second
            World War.
MOE remained an independent company of modest size until 1980, composed of a
staff of around 30 working alongside the firm’s founder and owner.

Construction of a cableway, H.C. Ørsted power plant,
