Engineering and innovation have always been indissociable and today’s challenges are a
wake-up call if we hope to succeed tomorrow. Climate change, dwindling resources and
urban growth have been the outstanding features of the past decade. They demand that
we build and develop differently. We need to find solutions that meet increasingly complex
financial, environmental and social objectives.
Artelia’s genius is its multi-disciplinarity, enabling us to decompartmentalise our approach
to urban issues. We are increasingly called on to propose solutions and improvements
by considering a project’s entire life cycle and by collaborating very closely with all the
players involved, from the architect to the equipment manufacturer.
This is an exciting trend that is forcing us to adopt new eco-design approaches and
develop solutions in which the circular economy, resilience, energy efficiency and ecology
are keynotes. We have to take into account an increasing number of environmental and
social requirements right from the conceptual design stage, but we also have to adapt
our way of doing things by intervening on structures in the operating phase to improve
their operation.
