Water supply reservoirs for Saint-Étienne - France, 1977

In 1972 the original company was split into two. Its “industrial hydraulics” division Water intake, Cap des Biches thermal power plant,
remained within the Alsthom group, while a new Sogreah, with a reduced staff of only Dakar - Senegal, 1975
400 people concentrating on regional development, joined the Compagnie générale
d’électricité (CGE). Three engineering companies coexisted within this group, each
with a distinct field of specialisation: Sogreah (water), Sogelerg (electricity, public
works, industry) and Sedim (building construction, hospitals). They began working
together more closely in 1976 and finally merged in 1990 to create a new holding
            company named Sogelerg-Sogreah.
However, this attempt to create an integrated engineering group with complementary
areas of specialisation was stymied by a further reorganisation of the Alcatel-Alsthom
(ex-CGE) group, which finally led to the break-up of Sogelerg-Sogreah in 1998.
