Normandy bridge - France
This growth was even more notable in the transport infrastructure sector. As part of the
Interinfra consortium, Sogelerg was responsible for a large part of the studies for the Cairo
and Athens metros. At the end of the 1980s it managed numerous urban tramway projects
(in Strasbourg, Nancy, Bordeaux, Le Mans, etc.). It helped to build some outstanding bridges, such as
the Coatzacoalcos II bridge in Mexico (1984), the Normandy bridge (1989-1995) and the Léopold Sédar-
Senghor footbridge in Paris (1997-1999). With architect Norman Foster, Sogelerg also led the team that
won the design contract for the Millau viaduct in 1996, by proposing a multi-span cable-stayed solution.
Sogerlerg also conducted design studies for a number of SNCF railway stations (Magenta in 1997, La
Plaine-Stade de France (the French National Stadium) in 1998, and the mega-structure covering the
tracks at Paris-Montparnasse station in 1994). The company continued to expand in the field of urban
planning and development by working on road and airport development plans in Morocco and Mexico
and by carrying out numerous urban mobility studies in France (non-motorised transport, pedestrian
areas, etc.). It thus took part in a number of urban development projects, such as the Paris-Rive Gauche
mixed development zone, one of the largest in Paris, starting in 1990.
